A "Honey" of a Treat!

I have a guest stamper on the blog today!  When Amber told me that she had purchased the Bear Hugs bundle, I immediately asked her if she would share some of her projects with me.  I just love that stamp set, but I haven't had a chance to get it for myself yet.  Amber didn't let me down, and today is sharing this cute project that she made!

Of course, Amber was happy to share with me how she made this darling little treat...

"I had no idea what I was going to design. I just sat and stared at the stamp set for a while, trying to decide what I wanted to use for my first project. The cute little honey pot? Or the fish? I couldn't use both. Father's Day is a little over a month away and my dad likes fishing...

But I really liked that honey pot (it's currently my favorite stamp in the set)! As I sipped my coffee, contemplating, it hit me. Coffee. Tea. Honey drops in tea. Boom!

I started with a sheet of Whisper White card stock. Using the Early Espresso ink pad, I stamped the biggest bear. I also stamped that cute honey pot with the Hello Honey ink pad. Since I had ordered the Bear Hugs Bundle from the Retiring List, my life was simplified by using the Framelits and Big Shot to cut out both pieces!

I had already tested the size of the bear against a tea bag, so I knew he would be a good match. I attached him using SNAIL adhesive. Although it looked like his arms were holding the tea bag up, I decided to cut his arms off and attach them down on the tea bag. Then I could tuck the flower bouquet under his paw and use one of the sayings! (I stamped both with Early Espresso.)

Then it was time to add the honey drops.  I had made them with a simple hard candy recipe (sugar, light corn syrup and honey) and wrapped them individually in plastic wrap once they had set. Using SNAIL adhesive again, I attached the honey pot to the drop and attached the drop to the tea bag. I loved the way that the tea bad stood up once it was all assembled.

I think I'll bring them along as favors to the next Paper Pumpkin night with my friends!"

Amber, your friends are going to love them! :)

Cards & Corks - A FUN New Event!

On Thursday, May 5th, I held a new class at Bemis Bluff Winery in Eleva, WI.  It's called Cards & Corks, and it was sooooo much fun!  Fifteen beautiful, crafty ladies joined me for wine tasting and cardmaking.  Each person got to make two cards.  Here are a few of the gals showing off their projects for me!
We had so much fun that I've decided to make this a monthly event, so if you missed it, watch for details on the next one on my Facebook page.  I will be posting the June event VERY soon! The last one filled up in less than a week, so you are going to want to RSVP right away!
As a special gift, I made these wine bottle tags for everyone.  Of course, they each may have had to go home with a bottle of wine to put their new tag on (wink)!
The tags were made with two of my favorite retiring In Colors - Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss.  I am going to miss those colors so much...they are so rich and elegant.  If you haven't stocked up on retiring In Color card stock and ink refills, now is the time.  Supplies are selling out quickly on the Retired List.  Also, now is the time to stock up on the basics in other colors - card stocks, inks, refills, etc., as there is a price increase as of June 1st.
I also used one of my favorite product bundles of all time.  The Framelits make such beautiful flowers (you have to try it with glimmer paper) and I just love the sentiments in the Rose Wonder stamp set.
I plan to show everyone how to make them at the next class, so there's another reason you don't want to miss it!
Don't forget that all orders of $35 or more from me during the month of May get this card kit for free.  So not only can you save up to 50% off on discounted retiring products, you can get free cards (made with new products you can't even get yet).  Talk about a great deal!

The Perfect Card for the Angler in Your Life

When my friend, Becky, showed me this adorable card she made for her son's birthday, I knew right away that I would have to share it on my blog!  The timing is perfect as well, as here in Wisconsin, the fishing season opens the first Saturday in May.

Becky got really clever and used the inside of zero (cut in half) from the Large Numbers Framelits to make the bobbers!  (Great, now I'm totally going to have to get those Framelits). And I especially love the real fishing tackle in the "pockets"!

What do you think?  Do you know some fishermen (or women) who would love to get this card?
